That the SAINTS IN HEAVEN are acquainted with what passes in the church on earth, and share in its prosperity, is very manifest by Matthew 5:5, compared with several passages in the Psalms 37. When Christ makes that promise, Matthew 5:5, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth," what he has a chief respect to is the prosperity of the church on earth, after the overthrow of Satan's visible kingdom, as is confirmed by the Psalms 37:8–10: "Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself in anywise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those that wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be; yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." (WJE 20:110–11)
