The Intervention of Christ

The Apostle, in Philippians 1:11, states that good deeds, or "fruits of righteousness," bring glory and praise to God through Jesus. But how exactly do these good works bring glory to God through Christ? What is the necessity of his mediation for good deeds to bring glory to God? We must consider that (1) man is incapable of performing good works in the proper manner without it. As stated in John 15:4-5, "Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing." This is evident and requires no explanation. However, (2) even if fallen man could perform a good deed out of sincere love and admiration for God without the intervention of Christ, it would not bring glory to God. (See WJE 13:223–24)
